90s Video Games You Probably Forgot About

We are back again, but this time we are looking at video games! These games include games ‌you could play on a console or handheld system. This does not include computer games, but will still be exciting nonetheless. Full disclosure, I played little video games in the 90s. I played games from a Nintendo 64 that my friend had, but I was much more of a PC gamer than a console gamer.

Donkey Kong 64 (1999)

Though this game was frustrating, ‌this game was great. I am sure that many people that played games, played Donkey Kong 64 at some point, but it is still a game to give credit to. This was the first 3D game from the Donkey Kong franchise. This game had universal acclaim, which is no surprise. This game was incredible. It was difficult and included the entire gang! It was the top seller for the Christmas season for Nintendo 64. The 30-hour gameplay was very long, which is laughable to today’s standards. Overall, the love for Donkey Kong 64 is justified and is a game we should not forget no matter how long it has been.

Spyro the Dragon (1998)

This computer game was a PlayStation classic. This cute purple dragon would steal our hearts and would end up being a game that would be remade much later. It was a commercial success in the United Kingdom. This video game was the first one for PlayStation to become a franchise video game series. Spyro would be a mascot, much like Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation. As a commercially successful and fan favorite game, this game is not one to miss.

Mario Party (1999)

I had to end with a classic that I also played back in the day, the original Mario Party of Nintendo 64. This game was the first installment of Mario Party, which would end up having countless iterations. Nintendo is still putting out versions of the game this year. In this version, there were only 6 characters that you could choose to play as and 50 mini-games that could be played. The gameplay was slow, as it always is with Mario Party, and it was truly one of the first console party games. This game was so much fun and was a game I always played before school when I was at my friend’s house.
